Why I created this book,
and how it can help your child
The common struggle
Almost every parent and teacher has, at some point, given advice like: “Don’t think like that… don’t feel this way… don’t act in this manner.”
We all know unhelpful thoughts and actions can make life harder. But the real struggle isn’t knowing what not to do, it’s knowing how to change.
Where CBT helps
That’s where Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) makes a difference.
CBT doesn’t tell children to ignore or push away their feelings. Instead, it helps them identify, understand, and gradually modify the way they think, feel, and act. It gives them a structured way to face their emotions, not run from them.
Why this book was created
This book was born out of that gap. Children need tools that are simple, playful, and practical; tools that guide them to understand and learn the how.
My experience & training
As a CBT therapist trained under Beck Institute and the MS in Counselling program at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, I bring years of experience supporting adults, parents, and children.
Again and again, I’ve witnessed how understanding our thoughts can change lives — which is why I am passionate about making CBT simple and accessible through my writing.
My purpose
My work,in therapy, parenting strategy, and writing, is guided by one purpose: to make CBT accessible, relatable, and effective.
The vision
That is why I created this book: to help children and parents bridge the gap between advice and action, and to build resilience that lasts a lifetime.
Set your child on the path to self-awareness and emotional growth!
Support your child in developing lifelong emotional skills.
❓Questions Parents Often Ask
If you’re new to CBT or wondering how this book really helps, these answers will guide you.
❓ What is CBT?
Think of CBT as a simple guide that explains how our thoughts, feelings, and actions are all linked. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy based on a simple idea: it’s our thoughts, not the situation itself, that affect how we feel and act. Since thoughts are interpretations (not facts), we can learn to evaluate, modify, and change them — and in doing so, change how we feel and react. CBT also helps people regulate emotions, spot unhelpful coping strategies, and learn healthier ways to deal with any situation.
🧠 Is this a therapy book?
No, it’s not therapy, it’s a story. It’s a storybook about a boy named Aarav who learns CBT techniques to manage his thoughts, feelings, and actions. Children discover these skills alongside Aarav in a playful, relatable way.
📖 Will my child understand it?
Yes, absolutely. The story is written in simple, child-friendly language. Children can easily relate to Aarav and his challenges and they naturally try the tools he uses to manage thoughts and feelings.
👨👩👧 Do I, as a parent, need to know psychology?
Not at all. You’ll learn right alongside your child. You don’t need prior knowledge. In fact, many parents enjoy learning CBT alongside their child. It becomes a fun, shared way to understand thoughts, feelings, and actions together.
🔄 How is this different from just giving advice?
Advice tells children what to do. CBT shows them how to do it. Advice usually sets expectations, what a child should or shouldn’t do. But it rarely explains how. CBT is different: it’s a tool, not just a suggestion. By practising the book’s strategies, children evaluate their own thoughts and actions, notice the impact on their feelings and relationships, and develop lasting emotional awareness.
🌱 What are the long-term benefits?
Skills learned early often stay for life. Children naturally develop coping skills, but when they are given tools to understand their thoughts, feelings, and actions, they can make more informed choices. Over time, these practices become like muscle memory. They grow into adults who regulate emotions better, think more clearly, and respond more thoughtfully. Once learnt, these CBT tools can be used daily, and eventually, they become a way of life.
🤝 Do I need to sit with my child for every activity?
Not always. Children can do it themselves, but joining them makes it richer. Many children can use the book independently. But if you join them, you can discuss the stories and tools together, which expands their thinking and gives you fresh strategies too. After all, these are standard CBT skills, even adults benefit from them!
📚 Is it backed by science?
Yes ! CBT is one of the most researched approaches in psychology. It’s widely used in schools, clinics, and therapy for children and adults alike. Beyond mental health, CBT tools are also part of corporate wellness and leadership programmes, where professionals use them to manage stress, improve decision-making, and build emotional resilience. This book brings those same evidence-based strategies into a child-friendly, story-based format, giving your child access to skills that even leaders and organisations value today.
